Like the other charmion's projects, the all important human - nature connection would be re-established for a balanced and harmonious living.

Whilst the next city bred generations may passionately look at farming as a potential lifestyle, Charmion will try to sow seeds for that revolution with Ambara!

Though modern yet organic in its operations, this ecoville will connect with its extended local community. Interactivity with the neighbouring villages is core for this concept to thrive with specifically designed outreach programmes. Besides this, it will constantly reach out to connect with the outer world by inviting them to cherish, participate, revere and spread its journey of green living.

Housing organic farmplots, wisely distributed for one to build their dream farm house, this ecoville will be exclusively designed by Auroville Design Consultants and promises you a green dwelling to breathe life!

Features

Ambara will be set amidst large green landscapes, the farm-plots and the productive gardens will be interspersed in the landscape without disturbing any existing trees.

The Farm houses and the recreational buildings will be set in the landscape with minimum barriers of fences and walls to evoke the traditional village settlement, enabling the feeling of a community that extends beyond the family to the whole neighbourhood. The vernacular architecture of Karnataka will inspire the home designs, using the local building materials and craftsmanship for a climatically comfortable living year long.

Restrictions apply on the design and architecture of the farm houses to ensure integrity of the concept.

The paths, lanes and roads will be designed to be pedestrian friendly, making it secure for the children, elderly, physically challenged and local fauna. Access for emergency vehicles even in the peripheral roads combined with appropriate security with boundary fences will be part of the plan.

Water and energy conservation are integral to this ecoville. The rain water will be collected with bio-swales to recharge the ground water and the pond, while waste water from farm houses will be recycled to be used in the farmplots.

Besides this, the household organic waste will be composted on site along with farm waste to replenish the farmlands.

The energy layout will allow for hybrid systems in homes for renewable energies like roof top PV cells and solar water heaters. The external lighting including street lights will be solar. Power is provided through underground electrical wiring systems. Product and vendor information on water and energy saving fixtures and appliances will be provided to the farmplot owners to make informed choices.

This ecoville aims to thrive on the very principles of self sustainability, a model that will inspire new generations to consume less of nature and give back more.

Local villagers would be invited to trade their produce with ours at the Santhe, the market place of ambara. The farmplots will also produce other seasonal crops, vegetables and flora that would flourish in the local climate. Besides this, the green cover of the trees would be providing shelter to a variety of birds.

Goshala - The cattle farm at ambara or in the vicinity will take care of some of the daily dairy needs.

Craft shops that help develop or restore local folk art and crafts would be part of the vibrant Santhe. This will directly connect the craftsman and its customers. Regular Craft workshops would be the highlight of the Santhe.

Rangayana - the amphitheatre will address the creative and entertainment needs of the ecoville and its visitors.

Tavare - A well equipped Club house alongside the tranquil pond with an integrated rustic swimming pool , Health club and other recreational facilities compliment the ambara experience. The health club will be designed to accommodate visiting health specialists and health education/care workshops. Also part of this club house is a convention hall to facilitate general workshops, functions and corporate meetings with well appointed yet earthy and serene Guest Villas for the visiting guests to soak in the beauty of Ambara at one's own pace!
